RICHARD GRIGGS, Clerk of the Chancery and Circuit Courts of Issaquena county, died at Mayersville last Monday, of heart disease. Griggs was a negro of considerable ability, and wielded a decided influence with his race. He was a member of the Mississippi Legislature during the “reconstruction” period, and was noted for moving the “previous question.”
