Milton Coates (Warren County)

Born: c. 1851 in Vicksburg, MS
Died: May 1892 in Vicksburg, MS

Attended and was an assistant instructor at Alcorn University, where he won the gold medal for deportment and scholarship in 1873. Became cotton-weigher for the city of Vicksburg in 1872. Had an account in the Freedman’s Bank in 1873. I have been unable to locate Coates on the 1870 or 1880 census.
