To his excellency A Ames Gov of the State of Miss.

Dear sir, I am sorry that I feel it to be my duty to tender you my resignation as trustee of Alcorn University, because the affairs of the Institution have got into such a condition that nothing will give satisfaction but a partial chainge, & that instanto, & as we have faled to effect that change, I present you with this instrument to take effect from & after date.
