David H. Hopson (Coahoma County)

Born: 1859 in Coahoma County, MS

Listed as a student at Alcorn University in 1874. Teacher. Listed on the 1880 census in Coahoma County with parents Charles and Melvinia. According to Mississippi department reports, he held various county offices, including tax assessor (1884) and coroner (1896).

By 1900, he was a laborer on the farm of a William Tompkins. He was working as a “newsboy” in 1910, living at 526 Edwards Ave. in Clarksdale with wife Mattie and a few boarders.
