A CARD.

Mr. EDITOR: A scandalous misrepresentation in the “Brandon Republican” of the 19th, charges that I went to the celebration of the Fifteenth Amendment, at Vicksburg, accompanied by a prostitute. A man of family who has maintained in his humble life a reputation among the white and the colored people of my county for honesty and decency from boyhood, this outrage upon me would be a great crime, even though the young lady accompany me on the occasion referred to, was not the pride and light of my home – my daughter. In thus setting right this infamous libel before the public, I have no words to waste on the wretched man who can permit party passions to make him responsible for such atrocity against the private character of decent men.

CICERO MITCHELL.
