Senator Caldwell, of Hinds, a colored gemmen’, Monday gave C. S. C. Cass, Receiver of Public Monies under the United States Government, a genteel cussin’. Cass had been active in making up the slate of appointments for this town [Meridian] and county, which Caldwell had not supported, and for which Cass took umbrage. Cass will not trouble Caldwell again soon.
