According to the 1884 House Journal, he was a preacher and a farmer. Some records indicate that he went by the name Frank. Listed on the 1880 census with wife Emma Lambert (m. 1876), on the 1900 census with wife Agnes P. Moody (m. 1899), and on the 1910 census as a divorced clergyman. An F. Lucinda Churchill paid the bond as administrator of his estate in 1917.
