NEGROES PLAN STATE CONFERENCE HERE SOON
Questions of Importance Coming Up Dec. 11th At Meeting
The following has been issued here:
The undersigned citizens of the State of Mississippi hereby call a State Conference to be held at Central church N. Farish street, in Jackson, Miss., on the 11th day of December, 1918, at 12 o’clock, noon, for the following purposes, to-wit:
1. The taking of proper steps and the adoption of plans and best methods to assist in aiding negro soldiers in the acquisition of small farms at reasonable rates;
2. For the encouragement of the “back to the farm” movement;
3. The finding of profitable employment for those soldiers maimed and unsuited to farm life.
4. For the adoption of the best plans and methods for the circulation and assimilation of best literature for the boys on their return.
5. For the adoption of best means for the full development and full fruition of the wholesome seed of morality and sex hygiene already sown in the breasts of our soldier boys by the Young Men’s Christian Association and allied beneficent efforts.
6. For the memorialization of the World Peace Conference at Paris, praying the independence of German African colonial possessions, the establishments of same as republics under an allied protectorate until such time as such republics may become wholly independent and autonomous.
7. The adoption of plans, looking to the assistance of the State and nation in the solution of all “after the war” problems, and the consideration of any and all matters aiding the universal movement now on foot for human liberty and world democracy. Each county is invited to send representatives.
