NEGROES SHOW INTEREST IN EXPO

Advisory Commission of the Negro Department Recently Held Meeting in Gulfport.

Gulfport, January 31.

The initial meeting of the Gulf coast advisory commission of the negro department of the Mississippi Centennial was recently held here in the director’s office.

The organization of the Commission was perfected and plans adopted by which members of the advisory staff shall proceed in their work. This commission is composed of negro leaders along the Coast who understand the work required of them.

Among the members present were: Dr. J. M. May, Gulfport, who was made chairman of the commission; Rev. Billings, Gulfport, vice chairman; Prof. G. W. Brown, Bay St. Louis, secretary; Rev. H. J. Walker, Gulfport, treasurer; Prof. W. H. Jones, publicity agent, Pascagoula; Prof. J. W. Randolph, Pass Christian; Prof. S. T. Porter, Moss Point; Dr. E. A. Taylor, Gulfport; Rev. N. W. McGhee, Handsboro; Prof. M. F. Nichols, Biloxi; Prof. E. M. Nichols, Ocean Springs; Rev. Wallace Jones, Gulfport; J. W. Lee, Gulfport.
