John F. Harris, colored, who was charged with receiving funds of stolen property was tried before Justice of the Peace Vaughn last Tuesday and acquitted. Harris is an attorney at law and an ex-member of the legislature and has always been looked upon as a good citizen. During one of the sessions of the legislature he won the admiration of that body by a speech he made advocating the erection of a monument to the fallen heroes of the South. Harris is well liked in the city and his acquittal, from the evidence, is but a just verdict.
