Alfred Fields (Panola County)

Born: c. 1846 in Bourbon County, KY

Trader. Listed on the 1870 and 1880 census in Panola County. In 1870, he was living with other family members, possibly siblings, with farming as his occupation. In 1880, he was living with wife Alice Simmons (m. March 8, 1877) and two children, his occupation listed as “huckster.” In 1884, Fields was convicted of bribery and sentenced to two years in the state penitentiary.

Alice is listed as a widow living with her children in later censuses. Their daughter, Eva Fields (1884-1971), married Standard Greene, an Ohio businessman.
