
Samuel Riley (Wilkinson County)

Died: September 8, 1916 in Wilkinson County, MS
He is listed as Sam Reily on the 1870 census in Wilkinson County, along with several children by his first wife, Sallie Cage (Riley family records). According to the 1876 House journal, he lived at Fort Adams. When in Jackson to work in the legislature, he boarded at the home of a Mrs. Stamps, along with George W. White and William H. Mallory. His first wife having died, he married Susan Riley in November 1889 and is listed with her and four of their grandchildren on the 1900 census.
“Sam owned Mount Rica Plantation in Fort Adams, Mississippi. It was noted for raising cattle, horses, cotton, corn and several other crops. Sam died September 8, 1916 and is buried in Pleasant Valley.”
