George W. Boyd (Warren County)

Born: c. 1824 in Tennessee
Served with W. T. Montgomery and William Lewis, Jr., on the “Board of Arbitration,” a panel of civilian judges established by the Freedmen’s Bureau at Davis Bend. Member of the Warren County board of supervisors. Ran for sheriff in the Republican primary in 1871.
Boyd is listed on the 1870 census in Vicksburg with wife Minerva and two sons. The 1880 census records George and Minerva running a boarding house in Greenville. Boyd’s estimated birth years on the census are 1821 and 1827, respectively.
Boyd’s son, George D. Boyd, was a teacher in Greenville for many years.
