Alfred Peal (Marshall County)

Born: c. 1832 in Mississippi

Listed on the 1870 census in Marshall County with wife Emeline and five children. He was a farmer. According to the WPA history of Marshall County, he had been enslaved by Dr. Robert Hunter Peel.

Note on spelling: while the enslaver and Alfred Peal’s descendants used the spelling “Peel(e),” the House journal and all newspaper articles use “Peal.”
