Hon. <a href=\"https:\/\/much-ado.net\/legislators\/legislators\/john-r-lynch\/\">Jno. R. Lynch<\/a> presided, and <a href=\"https:\/\/much-ado.net\/legislators\/legislators\/james-j-spellman\/\">J. J. Spelman<\/a> selected as Secretary. Among the prominent members of the party present were Geo. C. McKee, H. C. Power, of Starkville; J. J. Baker and <a href=\"https:\/\/much-ado.net\/legislators\/legislators\/h-h-truehart\/\">H. H. Trueheart<\/a>, of Holmes; <a href=\"https:\/\/much-ado.net\/legislators\/legislators\/thomas-w-stringer\/\">T. W. Stringer<\/a>, of Warren; J. M. Matthews, of Carroll; <a href=\"https:\/\/much-ado.net\/legislators\/legislators\/stephen-b-blackwell\/\">S. B. Blackwell<\/a>, of Issaquena; <a href=\"https:\/\/much-ado.net\/legislators\/legislators\/george-w-huntley\/\">G. W. Huntley<\/a>, of Bolivar; <a href=\"https:\/\/much-ado.net\/legislators\/legislators\/james-hill\/\">Jas. Hill<\/a>, Jno. McGill and W. H. Gibbs, of Hinds; <a href=\"https:\/\/much-ado.net\/legislators\/legislators\/s-w-lewis\/\">S. W. Lewis<\/a>, of Madison and Henry Kernaghan, of Rankin.<\/p>\n<p>Hon. Jno. R. Lynch, after stating the object of the meeting, discussed the political situation, predicting a party success in the contest for President.<\/p>\n<p>April 4th was designated as the time for holding a State Convention to select delegates to the National Republican Convention, the District Convention being requested to meet at the same time and place.<\/p>\n<p>Hon. Jno. McGill was unanimously chosen a member of the Committee for the State-at-large, vice Hon. J. B.
