At their last convention <a href=\"https:\/\/much-ado.net\/legislators\/legislators\/w-h-harris\/\">W. H. Harris<\/a> was selected as the colored Representative. While a Republican he is regarded as a very honorable man. It is said of him that during a contest in his county some years ago, the offer was made to relieve his property of a thousand dollar mortgage if he would support the Democratic ticket.
