A Home Colored Man Goes for a Scalawag.
The Vicksburg Herald says: “A friend from Jefferson county informs us that the Hon. Merriman Howard, the colored Representative from that county in the last Legislature, gave the Hon. Abel Alderson, the Judge of the Natchez District, a very genteel flogging, at Fayette, on Monday night, the 17th inst.”
