Clarion Ledger, April 18, 1907

A telegram was placed in the city yesterday announcing the death of Callie McLeod, widow of M. M. McLeod, who was at one time one of the most prominent negroes of this state, being for several years city clerk of Jackson. McLeod, after the city went into the hands of the Democrats, resumed the practice of law here and acquired a good deal of property, his widow at the time of her death being accounted one of the wealthiest negro women of the south.
