D. W. Atwood, of Ohio, for long years a Pension Office clerk, has just been appointed to the Board of Review, of that office at a salary of $2,000 a year. There are but six men in the office out of a force 1,500 who rank above him, and only two colored men there now have positions paying larger salaries than his, Hon. B. K. Bruce and Hon. Fred. Douglass. D. W. Atwood has three brothers, Dr. O. M. Atwood, who is a prominent physician of Washington, who paid Kansas City a visit several years ago, L. K. Atwood, of Mississippi, at present a member of the State Legislature, and W. D. Atwood, of Michigan, a lumber merchant. A prominent family. The boys were born in Alabama, but went to Ohio before the war, where they were educated. -Gate City Press.
