PROPOSED COLORED CONVENTION.

A Meeting of Colored Citizens to Elect Delegates to the Albany Convention – Addresses by Wm. Howard Day, Charles B. Ray and Others – The Delegates Appointed, &c.

A small meeting of colored citizens of this city was held last evening at the Abyssinia Baptist church, Waverley place, near Sixth avenue, for the purpose of electing delegates to the State Convention of colored citizens to be convened at Albany on the 16th inst.

The meeting was called to order at eight o’clock, by Mr. James J. Spelman. After a prayer by Rev. Charles B. Ray, the following officers were appointed to officiate at the meeting: – Wm. Howard Day, President; Charles B. Ray and Wm. L. Thompson, Vice Presidents; and James J. Spelman and E. V. C. Eato, Secretaries.

THE NOMINATING COMMITTEE.

JAMES J. SPELMAN offered the following resolution, which was adopted: –

Resolved, That a committee of three be appointed by the Chairman to nominate delegates at large to represent New York city in the State Convention at Albany, on October 16, 1866.

The CHAIRMAN announced Messrs. James J. Spelman, Moses Wester and Pleasant R. Smith as the committee, who immediately retired to make the nominations.
