Republican Meeting.

The Republican State Executive Committee met here Thursday. Hon. Jno. R. Lynch presided, and J. J. Spelman selected as Secretary. Among the prominent members of the party present were Geo. C. McKee, H. C. Power, of Starkville; J. J. Baker and H. H. Trueheart, of Holmes; T. W. Stringer, of Warren; J. M. Matthews, of Carroll; S. B. Blackwell, of Issaquena; G. W. Huntley, of Bolivar; Jas. Hill, Jno. McGill and W. H. Gibbs, of Hinds; S. W. Lewis, of Madison and Henry Kernaghan, of Rankin.

Hon. Jno. R. Lynch, after stating the object of the meeting, discussed the political situation, predicting a party success in the contest for President.

April 4th was designated as the time for holding a State Convention to select delegates to the National Republican Convention, the District Convention being requested to meet at the same time and place.

Hon. Jno. McGill was unanimously chosen a member of the Committee for the State-at-large, vice Hon. J. B. Yellowly.

A canvass of members showed that a majority were favorable to the Presidential nomination of John Sherman.
