Canton Citizen: We learn that Rev. Alfred Handy‘s wife, colored, was nearly burned to death on Tuesday last and that he was badly burned in trying to extinguish the flame. It appears that she caught fire while asleep on a lounge near the fireplace. She had returned from a lodge meeting and fell asleep before undressing. Every particle of her clothing was burned off except her corset. She is in a critical condition and doubts are entertained of her recovery.
